Steps to Consider for Parents with Children with Special Needs
This publication has been prepared for parents with children who are diagnosed with a disability, whether it is autism, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, or Down syndrome, or a dual diagnosis. Standard legal documents and typical court orders fail to properly address the circumstances faced by families with children with special needs. In order to achieve our goals for creating circumstances where our kids can develop to their fullest potential, a few objectives are listed. Parents, as the strongest advocates for our children with special needs, are best equipped to address some of these goals. Some objectives can only be handled by professionals. Some goals are relevant in your situation now, and some goals can be addressed later or not at all, based on your circumstances.
